GOOD TO KNOW
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the wall amplifier and a separate amplifier box?+
The Herdio wall amplifier is a receiver built into a standard wall plate — it replaces the need for a bulky AV receiver or amplifier box. It fits in a single-gang electrical box, mounts flush to your wall, and gives you volume control, Bluetooth, USB, AUX, and MIC input all in one clean unit. No shelf space needed.
Can I use the USB port to play music without my phone?+
Yes. Plug a USB flash drive loaded with MP3 files directly into the wall plate and it will play automatically. No phone, no app, no internet connection required. Great for background music in commercial spaces, gyms, or retail environments.
What is the MIC input for?+
The MIC IN jack lets you connect a standard microphone to the wall plate. This is useful for paging announcements in offices or stores, karaoke at home, or any situation where you need voice to come through the ceiling speakers. The mic can override or mix with the music source.
Does the wall plate need a standard electrical box?+
Yes. The wall plate mounts into a standard single-gang electrical box (the same type used for light switches and outlets). It is not hardwired — it uses an external power adapter that plugs into a nearby outlet. No electrician required.
Can I paint the grilles to match my ceiling?+
Yes. The grilles are made of paintable material. Use standard latex ceiling paint and they will blend seamlessly into any ceiling color. Remove the grille before painting for best results.
How does Bluetooth 5.0 range work in practice?+
Bluetooth 5.0 provides up to 33ft (10m) of range in open air. In practice, walls and ceilings reduce this somewhat, but most customers can stream comfortably from an adjacent room. The connection is stable and reconnects automatically when you return to range.
